The Hotel Relais Santa Croce is located in the heart of the historic center of Florence, just 50m away from the Basilica of Santa Croce. The Basilica of Santa Croce is the principal Franciscan church of Florence, and largest Franciscan church in the world. It is thought that the Basilica was begun in 1294 and paid for by some of the city's wealthiest families. It was consecrated in 1442 by Pope Eugene IV. Its most notable features are its sixteen chapels, many of them decorated with frescoes by Giottoand his pupils.

The hotel Relais Santa Croce is situated in the nearby Cioffi-Jacometti Palace, an imposing edifice built by the Pope's treasurer, Marquis Baldinucci, in the 1700's. The entrance to the building has two imposing granite columns, which the Marquis brought to Florence from Rome. The palazzo is built on three levels.
