The history of hospitality, in the hills of Emilia Romagna

Three reasons why you'll love it here

  1. The winning combination of medieval charm and modern comfort
  2. The delicious regional cuisine served in both restaurants
  3. Moments of blissful relaxation by the pool in the castle gardens

Many centuries ago, in the land of the Malatesta, the powerful family which ruled Rimini and the region's Guelf party, the Castle of Montegridolfo was erected. Around this impressive medieval fortress, built in the hillside close to Rimini, a tiny little hamlet developed. This picturesque borgo is now home to Palazzo Viviani, a period residence transformed in exclusive guest accommodation''' for today's discerning traveller.

One time residence of the noble Gridolfi family, the ancient Castrum Montigredulphi lies on the boundary between Romagna and the Marche, along the line which once divided the properties of the Malatesta from those of their historic rivals, the Montefeltro of Urbino. Today, as guests pass beneath the Torre della Porta they enter a magical realm, the appeal of which has but increased with the passage of time.

Traces of the history of Castello di Montegridolfi Palazzo Viviani can still be found, in rooms adorned with priceless antiques and sumptuous drapes. Guest bedrooms, suites and apartments are situated in various edifices. Eight suites are located in the principal Palazzo Viviani. The charming Casa del Pittore, in the gardens of the castle, houses seven bedrooms. A further eight studio apartments and a luxurious suite-apartment are situated in the lanes of the hamlet and in the Borgo degli Ulivi.

In the gardens of Castello di Montegridolfo there is a swimming pool and a solarium where to relax and enjoy the tranquillity of this beautiful part of Italy. The delicious cuisine of Emilia Romagna can be savoured in the Sala dell'Agrumaia and the exclusive "Ristoro" restaurant, this latter occupying what was once the old cellar.

Palazzo Viviani's recently inaugurated conference center provides the perfect venue in which to host business meetings, seminars and corporate assemblies but also receptions, banquets and gala dinners.
