Many centuries ago, in the land of the Malatesta, the powerful family which ruled Rimini and the region's Guelf party, the Castle of Montegridolfo was erected. Around this impressive medieval fortress, built in the hillside close to Rimini, a tiny little hamlet developed. One time residence of the noble Gridolfi family, the ancient Castrum Montigredulphi lies on the boundary between Romagna and the Marche, along the line which once divided the properties of the Malatesta from those of their historic rivals, the Montefeltro of Urbino. Today, as guests pass beneath the Torre della Porta they enter a magical realm, the appeal of which has but increased with the passage of time.

Traces of the history of Castello di Montegridolfi Palazzo Viviani can still be found, in rooms adorned with priceless antiques and sumptuous drapes.
