Masseria San Domenico Savelletri di Fasano

The Masseria San Domenico is one of Apulia's most highly acclaimed 5 star luxury hotels. Just 500 meters away from the sea edge on the coast between Bari and Brindisi, the hotel has been created in a building of great historic interest, part of which dates back to the XV century, when it was erected as a watch tower to guard the coast from attacks by the Ottoman armies.

In later years the building served as a farmhouse or "masseria", and was expanded so as to provide outbuildings for the processing and storage of the fruit and vegetables grown on the surrounding land and accommodation for farm workers and as occasional residence of the land owner himself.

The building's transformation in luxury resort just over a decade ago, was performed with the utmost care being made so as to maintain the original architectural features of the farmstead and to conserve the combination of Moorish and indigenous Mediterranean styles which characterize the property.

The Masseria San Domenico has a total of 50 rooms and suites all beautifully furnished with pieces of period furniture and intricate wrought iron bedsteads and lamp stands. In true Mediterranean fashion, pristine white washed walls contrast with the richly colored textiles of the luxurious drapes and canopies.

The hotel is surrounded by 60 hectares of olive groves and fruit orchards, part of the produce of which is used in the kitchens of the hotel's "San Domenico" restaurant. The hotel's main restaurant boasts a magnificent dining room with arched vaults dating back to the 17th century. Guests are presented with a menu featuring a selection of the irresistible local specialties and same-day fresh sea food and fish from the Adriatic sea. The wine list gives diners the opportunity to taste any of the region's finest wines. The Pool Grill offers a sumptuous buffet lunch for those relaxing on the terraces of the hotel's fabulous swimming pool.
