Masseria Astapiana Villa Giusso Historical Residences Vico Equense

Occupying a magnificent position on the hillside of Vico Equense, on the Sorrentine Peninsula, Masseria Astapiana Villa Giusso boasts a long and fascinating history.

In the four hundred years which have passed since the time of its initial construction, Villa Giusso has been a monastery, refuge, noble residence, hermitage, and farmhouse. First recorded mention of the villa dates back to 1578. At the start of the 17th century the monastery was erected. In 1807, King Joseph suppressed the resident Camaldolesi order and the monastery became a Royal Site, site in which Gioacchino Murat sought refuge after having been defeated by the Austrians in 1815. In 1822, Duke Luigi Giusso purchased the entire complex and transformed it in his personal country residence. Today the Villa offers unique holiday accommodation for guests in search of those emotions which only a historical residence can provoke.

Villa Giusso conserves all the charm of times past. A delicious breakfast of fresh ricotta, figs and cakes is served in the ancient majolica tiled kitchen, room which also provides the perfect venue for tastings of traditional gastronomic products and, on request, typical dinners. The panoramic stone terrace is the perfect place where to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet of the villa. Those with a passion for walking are free to venture in to the woods, olive groves and vineyards of the estate surrounding Astapiana Villa Giusso.

Masseria Astapiana Villa Giusso's bedrooms occupy what were once the cells and the visitor's lodge of the old monastery; simply furnished spaces in which to find age old antiques and beautiful, wrought iron beds. For those looking for independent, self catering accommodation there is the Annunciata, a superb two bedroom apartment with fully equipped kitchenette.

At Villa Giusso's Learning Farm guests have the opportunity to participate in cooking lessons, bread making, even olive picking - harvesting the fruits from which an excellent Extra Virgin Olive Oil is produced. Younger guests will love feeding the chickens and rabbits and helping to milk the cows.

Masseria Astapiana Villa Giusso provides an idyllic setting for wedding receptions and banquets. The Conference Hall and "Cenacolo" are ideally suited for seminars, meetings and small scale business events.
