Born in Assisi of humble origins, Giacomo Brufani nurtured a passion for the tourist industry since his youth. He started his career early, as an assistant and tour guide to visitors travelling through Umbria by stagecoach. Recognising the increasing demand for high quality and modern accommodation, in 1884, Giacomo Brufani, opened a hotel which was soon to become the preferred residence in Perugia of the affluent classes and members of aristocratic families travelling to the Umbrian city from all over Europe. More than a century later the 5 star luxury Brufani Palace still represents the city of Perugia's most exclusive hotel.

The Brufani Palace Hotel's 94 beautifully appointed bedrooms and suites are all furnished with antique pieces and sumptuous textiles. Bathrooms in the finest Italian marble feature Jacuzzi bathtubs.
